Balkh Legends Rout Paktia Panthers to Stay on Top of Table
A blistering knock from Ryan ten Doeschate and a middle order from collapse from Paktia batsmen were the highlights of the evening as Balkh Legends registered a commanding win of 89 runs to stay on the top of the table. Blazing his way to 74 from 41 balls that included 5 sixes and 4 fours, Doeschate took on from where Colin Munro left after the field restrictions and stayed unbeaten up to the end helping Balkh notch up a highly competitive 195 for 4 in 20 overs.
DarwishRasooli also contributed well at the top of the order scoring 44 runs. For Paktia, apart from IsuruUdana, none of the bowlers could make even a bit of impact and Yamin, Ashraf, Shenwari were the most competitive going for over 10 an over.
Paktia’s chase depended a lot on their skipper Mohammad Shahzad and he took his team to a great start crossing 30-run mark in 3 overs. Once he departed it became a sad story for the Paktia. They were once 69 for two but lost another 5 wickets for the next 10 overs and then it was all but over, concluding at 106 all-out in the 16th over.
The Balkh Legends bowling was brilliant. Bopara and Qais, in particular, were the stars as they built the pressure in the middle overs. Not only did they keep it tight, but also picked wickets to wither away any hopes of a Paktia Panthers victory.
Brief scores: Balkh Legends 194 for four in 20 overs (Darwish Rasooli 44, Ryan ten Doeschate 74, Ravi Bopara 26; Isuru Udana 1 for 27, Sikandar Raza 1 for 12) beat Paktia Panthers 106 all out in 15.2 overs (Rahmanullah Gurbaz 33; Aftab Alam 2 for 14, Gulbadin Naib 2 for 19, Ravi Bopara 3 for 16, Qais Ahmed 2 for 5) by 89 runs.
